William A. Tino, 94, of Torrington, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Danbury on September 7, 1919, the son of the late Adolfo and Cesira (Pierfederici) Tino. He was the loving husband of Mary (Altimari) Tino for 69 years.
William served his country during World War II in the United States Army, a member of the 925 th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with two service stars.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a mechanic at Torin Corporation. A devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and uncle, he is also survived by his son, David Tino and his wife Gayle of Las Vegas, Nevada, and his daughter Sally Tino Pirla and her husband Robert of Torrington as well as five grandchildren, John Pirla, Gina Pirla, David Tino, Jr., Michael Tino, David Miller, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
