William J. Sochon, 84, of Harwinton, CT, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Valerie Manor. He was the beloved husband of Edith (Eyre) Sochon for 60 years.
William was born September 9, 1932, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Walter and Stella (Szymanski) Sochon. He served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
William was employed by the State of Connecticut as a plumber at the Southbury Training School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to watch UCONN Women’s Basketball .
He is survived by two sons, Lee Sochon (Susan) of Torrington, CT and Daniel Sochon (Traci) of Torrington, CT; one daughter, Susan Persechino (Marc) of Torrington, CT; one sister, Jennie Dziezynski; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Peter Sochon and sister, Theresa Farkas.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
