Virginia Bembera Bayusik, widow of Charles Michael “Mike” Bayusik passed away December 12, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Torrington, CT. She was a long time resident of Easton, having lived there from 1956 until her recent illness.
She was born April 7, 1926, the first child of Michael G. Bembera and Virginia Lillian Stafford Bembera.
She graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College and a Masters in Education from the University of Bridgeport.
Mrs. Bayusik retired from the Fairfield, CT public school system after 28 years teaching elementary grades and gifted children at Holland Hill School.
In her retirement she attended watercolor and oil painting classes, and studied Shakespeare at the Easton Senior Center. She went on numerous trips to art museums and theatrical performances with the Senior Center.
She enjoyed drama and writing, and was concerned about human rights, as well as animal rights and historic preservation.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth B. Galan, MD and her husband Robert, grandson Michael Galan and granddaughter Natalie Galan, all of Torrington, CT. She is also survived by her sister Norma Newman, and her daughters Patrice Arsenault and husband Tim, Judy Caturano and husband Jim, and Lorry Taylor and husband Rich, as well as many other nieces, nephews,grandnieces and grandnephews.
At Virginia’s request, there will be no services. Cook Funeral Home of Torrington is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be private. Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to contribute to The Mount Holyoke Fund, Office of Advancement, Mary E. Woolley Hall, Mount Holyoke College, 50 College Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
