Vida (Rizzi) Bucaccio, 84, of Torrington, CT, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014, at Brandywine Senior Living. She was the wife of the late Angelo Bucaccio.
Vida was born October 12, 1929, in Beckley, West Virginia, daughter of the late Nick and Rosa (Marchetti) Rizzi. A devoted wife and mother, after she raised her family, she was employed by the Torrington School System as an aide and tutored many children. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church, where she volunteered countless hours as a CCD Teacher; was a Parish Council Member who, with her husband, assisted in decorating the church for many years; and very active Holy Rosary Society member and past president, where she organized countless trips and she also was a lector. She enjoyed art, especially oil painting and drawing. She loved to read, write poetry, sing, work in her flower gardens, and play card games, especially 9 – 5. She was often found cooking, playing Scrabble and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed attending their football, basketball, baseball, and soccer games, along with swim meets and dance recitals. She was an avid UConn Women's basketball fan.
She is survived by three sons; Michael Bucaccio and his wife Mary of Torrington, Thomas Bucaccio of Melbourne, FL, Gerald Bucaccio and his wife Patricia of Paoli, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Victor Rizzi and Joe Rizzi both of Beckley, West Virginia; a sister-in-law Mary Bucaccio of Torrington; six grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, John, Katherine, Peter, and Kimberly as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, with the cortege leaving at 10:00 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
