Veglia "Val" L. (Soliani) McNulty

Mrs. Veglia “Val” L. McNulty, 87, of Torrington, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and was the wife of Robert McNulty.

Val was born September 3, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, and is predeceased by her parents Italo and Emma Soliani and her brother Fred Soliani of Bristol, CT.

Val was employed at Nu Stars for over thirty years.  She enjoyed writing poetry, playing cards, and going to the casino with her many friends and she was an avid fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team.

Above all else, she loved taking care of and loving her family.  Val was a genuine gentle soul who brought happiness to everyone she knew.  She will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.

Val leaves behind and will be greatly missed by her children, Gary McNulty, Maureen Bianchi, and Sharon McNulty all from Torrington.  Also, her grandchildren, Christel and her husband Josh Russman, Daniel Cocchiola and wife Brittany, Allison Bianchi and Lindsey Ransom.  Also left is her two great grandchildren Velia and Vince Russman, all whom she loved so very much.

Val also leaves her brother, Romano Soliani of Italy, sisters Carolyn Balsamo of Torrington and Shirley Miles of Texas and her nieces Karen and Susan.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Charlene and Brozena for the exceptional care and love they gave our mom.  Also, thank you to Jordan and the other nurses at VNS of Torrington that were there for us and cared for our mom.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  Burial will follow in St. Francis Old Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning, December 19th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
