Theresa (Bienkowski) Scarmana

Theresa (Bienkowski) Scarmana, 97, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late Francis J. Scarmana, Sr.

Theresa was born November 5, 1919, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late John and Sophie (Pentlitski) Bienkowski.  She was employed by Reibman’s and Trim Fashions as a Sales Clerk, until her retirement.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Carol of Missouri, four grandchildren, Scott and his wife Katie, David and his fiancée Ashleigh, Brian and Lacy; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Audrey, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Francis J. “Chip” Scarmana, Jr., and three sisters, Agnes Torizzo, Gertrude Murphy, and Elizabeth Seiser.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, with the cortege leaving at 11:00 a.m.  from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.   Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
