Stanley (“Stan”) Rinkus, 96, of Thomaston, Connecticut, passed in peace the evening of October 28, 2015, at Valerie Manor in Torrington, surrounded by his four sons. A World War II veteran, Stan served as a corporal in the 203rd Field Artillery Battalion as a technician.
Stan was born July 25, 1919 in Connecticut, one of four children of Joseph and Mary Rinkus. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lucienne Rinkus: his parents; brother, John; and two sisters, Francis and Josephine.
He is survived by his four sons, Stanley Jr. of Manchester, New Hampshire, Tom (Pam) Rinkus of Thomaston, Connecticut, Jim (Mary) Rinkus of Brighton, Michigan, and Jerry (Marina) Rinkus of Harwinton, Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Rinkus (Steven Swindler), Tom Rinkus Jr., Samantha Rinkus, Eric Rinkus, Michael Rinkus, Daniel Rinkus and Matthew Rinkus; and one great grandson, Nathan Rinkus.
