Ronald J. Casavant, affectionately known as “Cas” or “Pa” by family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, with his beloved wife, Donna, by his side. He was 80 years old.
Ron was born in Torrington to the late Gedeon and Doris (Fecteau) Casavant and graduated from Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in 1963. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1965-1969. He married Donna (Borra) on June 11, 1966, and the couple lived in Ohio and Germany before returning to Connecticut in 1969. Ron worked as a mechanical engineer at The Torrington Company, Wilcox-Crittendon and Carten-Fujikin, Inc.
Spending time with family and friends brought Ron great joy. He and Donna traveled throughout the United States and Europe and enjoyed many vacations with their granddaughters including to Disney World, Seattle, Washington, D.C. and the Bahamas. Throughout his life, Ron enjoyed watching and playing golf and never missed a chance to watch college basketball, especially his favorite team, UCONN.
Ron leaves his wife of 58 years, Donna (Borra) Casavant, his son Scott Casavant, daughter-in-law Beth, and granddaughters, Julia and Emma of Shrewsbury, MA, his brother Robert J. Casavant and his wife, Joan of Orleans, MA, his sister Doreen Roy and her husband, Bill of Barkhamsted. CT, several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his brother Roy Casavant.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT. Funeral services will be held on March 11th at St. Francis of Assisi Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 160 Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
