Romilda (Cesaro) Maniccia, 85, of Torrington CT, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Litchfield Woods surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Armand Maniccia, Sr. for 57 years.
Romilda was born July 4, 1929, in Giffoni, Valle Piana, Italy, daughter of the late Nicola and Lucia (Palo) Cesaro. She was one of ten children. Her handiwork could be found donated to charities or given to her family and friends. Of all her talents, her greatest one was in nourishing her family with love and food. Guests to her home were filled with culinary delights, most of which she insisted they take home. Devoted to her Catholic faith, Romilda was a communicant of St. Peter Church, a volunteer at Lourdes Shrine, and a member of the St. Peter Holy Rosary Society, the St. Anne Society, and the Sullivan Senior Center.
A loving and devoted wife and mother, she will be missed by many family members and friends. In addition to her husband, Armand, she is survived by one sister, Rosetta Cesaro (Giovanni) of Salerno, Italy; two daughters, Ann Marie Burgess (Stephen) of Naugatuck and Joanne Maniccia of Torrington; two sons, Armand Maniccia, Jr. (Tracy) of Torrington and Paul Maniccia (Jennifer) of Sacramento, CA; eight grandchildren, Jena Bergeron (Jeffrey), Brendan (Liz), William and Brice Burgess, Nicolas, Alexa, Luca and Lia Maniccia; one great grandson, Jeffrey Bergeron; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Her family would like to thank family and friends for their outpouring of support over the past difficult weeks and to her caregivers at Litchfield Woods for keeping her comfortable during her final days.
