Roland "Rollie" N. Spino

Roland “Rollie” N. Spino, 88, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Geri” (DeFranz) Spino for 56 years.

Rollie was born June 9, 1929, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Nicola and Rose (Andria) Spino.  He was the Owner of Spino’s Mens Shop for 30 years.  He honorably served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He was a former member of the Civitan Club, a lifetime member of the Elk’s Lodge #372, a volunteer at Lourdes Shrine in Litchfield, a member of the Holy Name Society and a lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church.  He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, and meeting with the “Antique Club/Coffee Buddies”, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, David Spino (Vanessa) of Goshen, CT; one daughter, Laurie Spino (Thomas) Theroux of South Windsor, CT; two sisters, Connie  Boldt and Eda Sullivan, both of Torrington, CT; four grandchildren, Joseph and Natalie Theroux, Erika and Allison Spino, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Alfred, Larry Spino and four sisters, Helen Troccolo, Vinnie DiPippo, Mary Sokolik, and Inez O’Cain.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.  at  St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, CT.  Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors accorded.  There are no calling hours.
