Roger Paskett, 75, of Harwinton, CT, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, December 24, 2020 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Anderson) Plaskett for 51 years.
Roger was born November 8, 1945, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Merle and Blanche (Couch) Plaskett. He was employed by B/E Aerospace for 32 years, and held positions including the Director of Warranty Administration and Customer Service; Directory of Engineering for Regional Class seating; Director of PDM implementation and numerous other positions within the Engineering Department.
He was the Founder and President of the Litchfield County BMX Group, Inc., (a public charity). He announced over 200 National BMX events around the country, including 15 National Championship Competitions, and 2 World Championship events, as well as being a Master of Ceremonies at 15 State BMX Banquets.Roger received the Harwinton's Outstanding Citizen Award in 2013. Roger’s interests also included skiing, bicycling, fishing, all professional sports, any computer related and volunteering with youth related services. He enjoyed photography, working on the “Plaskett Resort”, spending time with his loyal companion, Dash, repairing stone walls, and was an advocate for the Caris property for many years.
He was a member of the Harwinton Historical Society, and the Harwinton Agricultural Society, a member of the Board of Directors of the T.A. Hungerford Memorial Library / Museum, a Municipal Historian for the Town of Harwinton, as well as the Barber Family Historian. Roger also delivered various presentations for the Town of Harwinton, and worked on special projects including historical cemetery tours. He was the 2007 National Volunteer of the Year for the National Bicycle League, a Past President of the Torrington Little League Instructional Division, and he was inducted into the USA National BMX Hall of Fame.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by one son, Greg T. Plaskett and his wife Christine of Canton, CT; two grandchildren, Colleen and Josh Plaskett; one brother, Richard Plaskett and his wife, Nancy of Harwinton, CT; one nephew, Jeffrey Plaskett and his wife Deidre of East Hartland; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Plaskett, and his brother, Jerald Plaskett.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 7th from 4-7 P.M. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Plaskett residence in the back yard on Friday, January 8th at 11:00 A.M.
