Rita Spino

Rita (Sortino) Spino, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away 96 years after the date of her birth, March 12, 2025, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Alfred Spino.

Rita was born March 12, 1929, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Vincent and Susan (Bredice) Sortino. She was employed by Southern New England Telephone as an Operator, retiring after 27 years of service.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Spino (Marian Girouard Spino) of Milton, MA, Charles Spino of Lake Park, FL; one daughter, Jane Pierce (Kevin) of Epping, NH; eight grandchildren, Natalie Spino Shanfield, Jaime (Spino) Viera, Ian Pierce, Stephanie Pierce, Shelby (Pierce) Chindamo, Catherine Spino, Paul Spino, Kyle Spino; seven great grandchildren, Caleb Pierce, Claire Shanfield, Emma Shanfield, Wyatt Shanfield, Gavin Viera, Mara Viera, and Hayes Viera. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Vincent Spino.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Center Congregational Church, 155 Main St., Torrington, CT at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.  There are no calling hours.
