Rita Marie (Skelly) Pacheco

Rita Marie Skelly Pacheco, 70, of Litchfield County, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at her daughter’s home after an extended illness.
She was born September 16, 1945, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret (Ryan) Skelly. She grew up in Fall River, MA where she attended Salve Regina College. In 1968, she moved to Connecticut and remained a lifelong resident of Torrington before moving to Bantam to join her daughter as her illness progressed. Rita was a wonderful mother, painter and jewelry craftsman. She devoted her professional career to Social Services in the State of Connecticut and ultimately retired from government service as the Deputy Commissioner of Social Services for the state. She enjoyed local politics, being active in her church, and volunteering.
She is survived by her daughter, Kerri-Ann Pacheco, of Bantam, CT; brother, Bernard “Jerry” Skelly Jr. and his wife Cyndi of Fort Myers, FL and her best friend of nearly 50 years, Mary-Lou Serafini of Torrington, CT.
A private memorial service for relatives and friends will be celebrated in January.
