Richard Lombard

Richard “Rick” Lombard, 75, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Karen (Gurtowsky) Lombard and his special feline companions Sugar and Spice.

Rick was born on November 29, 1946, in Winsted, CT, to the late George and Cecilia (Gara) Lombard. Raised in New Hartford, CT, he is a 1964 graduate of Northwestern Regional 7 High School.

Rick was employed by Ovation Instruments, Inc. for over 28 years. He also worked for Coats North America for several years before his retirement.

He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and UCONN Women’s Basketball. He also loved classic cars, and music from the 50’s and 60’s.

Rick enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking and airbrushing. He never met a stranger. Rick could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Richard (Lombard II) Dubois and his wife Meghan, and grandson Olivier Dubois. He is also survived by his sister Carole Wiley and his brother Mark Lombard, brothers-in-law Robert Gurtowsky, Edward Gurtowsky, and his wife Catherine; sisters-in-law Maria Gurtowsky, Deborah Nardi and wife Julie Smith; nieces and nephews Jennifer Ley, Michael Nardi, Nathan Gurtowsky, Vigil Gurtowsky, Jesse Gurtowsky, Lemuel Gurtowsky, Alina Rosado, Todd Levesque, and Bonnie Wallace. He is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister, Gara Lombard, mother-in-law Alduina Gurtowsky, and brother-in-law Anthony Gurtowsky.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington, CT 06790.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at Hillside Cemetery.
