Richard F. Bottass, 78, of Torrington, CT, passed away April 13, 2022. He was the beloved husband to Patricia “Patty” (Bissell) Bottass for 57 years.
Rich was born September 14, 1943, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Frank and Katherine (Castelli) Bottass. He was employed by O & G Industries as an equipment operator for 44 years, retiring in 2008. He loved working with machinery, from farming to construction.
He was a member of the Winchester Grange, the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association, and the Connecticut Farm Bureau, and a member of the I.U.O.E. Local 487. He loved being outdoors, whether it was haying, cutting wood, or simply helping neighbors and friends.
In addition to his wife Patty, he is survived by a son Richard Bottass, Jr. of Torrington, CT; a daughter, Suzanne Duffy of Bantam, CT; two brothers, Robert Bottass (JoAnne) and David Bottass (Kathy) both of Torrington, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Bekasi.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Winchester Cemetery, South Road, Winchester, CT. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Litchfield County 4-H Foundation, 843 University Drive, Torrington, CT 06790.
