Renato (Ray) N. Gugliotti, 81, of Middlebury, CT, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital with the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Beverly (D’Alonges) Gugliotti by his side.
Ray was born February 2, 1939, in Pontelandolfo, Italy, son of the late Luigi and Anna (Mucciacciaro) Gugliotti. He traveled to America at the age of seven with his mother, and when he met his father for the first time. After graduating from Kaynor Technical School, he proudly served his country with the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1964.
Upon his discharge, he worked his apprenticeship in Tool and Die making and worked in many local companies until achieving the dream of owning his own company Atlas Screw and Specialty Manufacturing in Waterbury. Through the years, he designed and built many machines for his company and others. He was a former communicate of St. Patrick’s Church in Waterbury, CT.
Although a toolmaker by trade there was not anything he could not fix or any project he would not undertake.
Ray loved his family and celebrating with them on all occasions. He enjoyed annual Cape Cod vacations with his family, trips to his second home in Apollo Beach, Florida, and sitting in the sun. He enjoyed cooking with his children and his children-in-law. Next to his family, he loved his cars, but nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with his family and of course his garden and many fruit trees. Although he had many nicknames, his favorite was Grampa or Papa.
In addition to his beloved wife Beverly, he is survived their five children, Rena Gugliotti (Gary Lefrancois) of Northfield, CT, Nicole Baker (Frank) of Goshen, CT, Robert Gugliotti of Wolcott, CT, Renato Gugliotti, Jr. (Melissa) of Apollo Beach, FL, Krista Cadett (Josh) of Waterbury, CT; one brother, Louis Gugliotti, his wife Patricia and their family; four grandchildren, Renato Gugliotti, III, Vienna Rae Baker, Nicholas Baker and Christian (CJ) Cadett, as well as many cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Nicholas and Gertrude D’Alonges, and his brother-in-law the Rev. John P. D’Alonges.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ehsan Ansari and Dr. Marc Ciampi for their compassionate care.
