Rena "Renee" M. (Stone) Armillei, 85, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Litchfield Woods Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Mario J. Armillei.
Renee was born on February 28, 1934, in Hyde Park, VT, the daughter of Edmund and Hazel (Colomb) Stone. In her younger years she was employed as a waitress at a local diner, and for many years worked at Torin before following her passion and working in the healthcare field as a CNA. She was then employed by Winsted Memorial Hospital as well as Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for over 30 years. She took pride in caring for her patients, always with great sensitivity and compassion. She most loved spending time with her family, serving up her famous sauce with spaghetti and meatballs every Sunday. She enjoyed collecting dolls, which she displayed throughout her house, and was an avid Star Trek fan. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, and she graciously hosted Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner in her home. She loved decorating the house with animated and musical figures that would rival the display at Christmas Village, and she would eagerly show everyone, every year, how they played.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Armillei and his wife Doreen of Land O Lakes, FL; two daughters, Michelle Jacoby of Glastonbury, CT, Donna Pedrinelli and her husband Marc of Torrington, CT, one brother, Rodney Stone of Barkhamsted, CT, two grandsons, Jason and John Armillei of Land O Lakes, FL, two great grandchildren, Ashley and Alyssa Armillei, and many nieces and nephews. Renee also leaves behind her dear friend Diane Giannattasio, who lovingly cared for her, making each day very special. In addition to her parents and her husband Mario, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Richard, John and Chester, as well as four sisters, Lorraine Wilson, Phyllis Dubourg, Isabel Moore, and Violet Stone.
Renee's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Litchfield Woods for their kindness and support.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
