Raymond J. Knapp, Sr.

Raymond J. Knapp, Sr., 75, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away at his home on June 28, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Greene) Knapp for 30 years.
Raymond was born January 3, 1941, in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Raymond Knapp and Julia (Beckett) Doty. He was employed by Hinman’s Nursery. An avid fisherman, he loved spending time with his children, and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Irene, he is survived by three sons, Harold Knapp (Kim) of South Carolina, Raymond Knapp, Jr. and Edward Knapp, both of Torrington; two daughters, Dawn Vaughn of Florida and Roxy Knapp (Jose’ Cartagena) of Torrington; three brothers, George Doty of Winsted, Edward Doty of Massachusetts, Ricky Doty of Alabama; four sisters, Judy and Jill both of Torrington, Sue and Sherry both of Winsted, four grandchildren, Katrina Knapp, Brian Baker, Jr., Anthony Knapp, Leon Cartagena, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, at 12:00 noon at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at Cook Funeral Home.
