Phyllis V. (Opley) Day, 86, of Torrington, CT, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Day.
Phyllis was born on April 11, 1931 in Great Barrington, MA, daughter of the late George and Mable (Palardy) Opley. She will be fondly remembered for a tradition she started for almost 25 years of baking and decorating gingerbread men and handing them out for Halloween. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Leon H. Saporite Jr.; her brother, Howard Opley and her sisters, Clara Condon and Dorothy Bernier.
Calling hours will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington on Friday, November 10, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.
