Phyllis (DiLullo) Cardegno, 86, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Cardegno.

Phyllis was born on November 18, 1930, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Carmine and Lucy (DiBenedetto) DiLullo.

Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Torrington. She graduated from Torrington High School with the Class of 1949 where she was Captain of the Cheerleading Squad. Phyllis held various positions throughout Torrington over the years such as working at Torrington Parks and Recreation Department handling the summer program at Alvord Park and opening Sky Top bowling lanes – to name just a few.  She is most recognized for her many years as the secretary and confidante to Torrington Mayors Daley and Conway. Phyllis was an inspiration, especially to women in politics as an early and a long time member of the Democratic Town Committee.

She is survived by daughters, Diana Kinosh of Torrington, CT and Gina Woolford (Keith) of Torrington, CT; brother, John DiLullo of Torrington, CT; grandchildren, Jarrod Woolford (Melissa), Derrick Woolford (Catherine), Adam Kinosh (Amanda) and Jason Kinosh (Jessica); and great granddaughter, Devyn Kinosh; several nieces nephews and friends; and her two sidekicks, Charlie and Binks.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the fifth floor at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital as well as the staff at Valerie Manor for the care and compassion shown to her during her recent stays.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
