Peter J. Castelli, 74, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on June 25, 2015, surrounded by his family.
The son of Peter and Flora (DiLullo) Castelli, Peter was raised in Harwinton, CT where he worked on the family farm, Highland Dairy Farm. Peter left the farm to attend Bryant University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he became the president of his class and his fraternity, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. While at Bryant, he met his beloved wife of 50 years, M. Patricia (Long) Castelli. He spent 40 years working as an industrial and manufacturing engineer.
Peter and Pat settled in Litchfield, Connecticut where they lived for over 38 years raising their children, Beth and James. He coached Little League baseball for many years and never missed any of his children's baseball games or crew meets. He was very active in his church, having served on the parish council and as a Eucharistic minister. After retirement and moving to Naples, Florida, Pete became an avid golfer, and became very involved in his church and his community's politics. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active alumnus of his college, having recently earned the Bryant University Alumni Achievement Award for longstanding volunteer service to the university and the Alumni Association. He loved traveling and spending time with his children, grandchildren and many dear friends.
Peter is survived by his wife, M. Patricia (Long) Castelli, his daughter Beth (David) Fitt, his son James (Therese) Castelli, and four grandchildren, Olivia and Gavin Castelli and Colin and Cassidy Fitt.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield, Connecticut. There are no calling hours.
