Peter Silvio Belli, 75, of Torrington, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Yale New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side.  Peter was born in Torrington on February 24, 1942, to the late Silvio and Margaret (Deak) Belli.  He graduated from Torrington High School class of 1960 and attended the Hartford School of Accounting.  He spent four years in the Air Force as a Personnel Specialist and was stationed in Hawaii, Guam, Okinawa and the Philippines.

He was employed by Waterbury Hospital in IT before retiring from The Torrington Company after 27 years where he was Payroll Manager for the last ten years.  He was a communicant of St. Peter Church and was President of the Holy Name Society.  He was a lifetime member of the Torrington Elks Club, Treasurer of the Northwest Hills Credit Union, and a member of the Torrington YMCA for over 65 years and The Great Mountain Forest of Norfolk.

He enjoyed golf, volleyball, fishing hunting, skeet shooting, racquetball, pickleball, paddleball, basketball, watching UConn basketball and officiating high school swimming and diving meets.  He also enjoyed making wine, meeting friends for breakfast and travelling.  In addition, he enjoyed spending time at his camp in Norfolk.

Pete was a kind, gentle soul whom everyone knew and loved.  He will be sadly missed by all.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.  He was their biggest fan and was always there for them whether it be babysitting, a sporting event, dance recital or fishing excursion.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Mazzarelli and her husband Stephen, his grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn and Matthew Mazzarelli; his three brothers, Fred Belli of Fairfield, CA, Thomas Belli and his wife Judy of Torrington, and James Belli and his wife Mary of Arlington, MA.  He is also survived by four nieces and nephews, many cousins and several friends.  He was predeceased by his wife, Anita and a granddaughter, Ashley Mazzarelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington.  Friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church.  Full military honors will be accorded immediately following the Mass.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.   Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pete’s memory may be made to The Holy Name Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the charity of the donor’s choice.   Condolences may be sent to Pete’s family by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com
