Paul S. Eichner, 75, of Torrington CT, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. He was the husband of Daphne (Marabelles) Eichner.
Paul was born June 30, 1945, in Torrington, and was raised on a small farm in the Newfield part of town. He is the son of the late William and Pauline (Musgrave) Eichner. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1965. Paul served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged in October 1969 after 4 years of service. He was employed by UPS for 30 years, then worked at Stop & Shop for 10 years.
During this time, he joined the VFW Post 9086 where he volunteered as a Quartermaster, Vice Commander, and Commander. He was also the chairman for the Buddy Poppy Drive in Torrington. When fellow veterans were in need, whether rent, heat, or otherwise, he made sure they received assistance. If anyone needed a ride to meetings, he would pick them up and buy the volunteers pizza.
In addition to his wife Daphne, he is survived by Erika Ledesma and her husband Stuart of Pearl City, HI; Paula Eichner of Beacon Falls, CT; one brother, William Eichner and his wife Deborah of Winchester, CT; one sister Karen Eichner of Torrington, CT; four grandchildren, Caleb and Logan Ledesma; Jordan and Julia Dommel.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home. Burial services will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Newfield Cemetery with full military honors accorded. All attending funeral services are requested to follow current CDC recommendations for COVID prevention.
