Patrick John Cordani, Jr., 83, of Torrington, CT passed after complications with heart surgery on Friday, August 17th in his daughter’s arms.
Patrick was also known as “Pat” and for those of us dear to him, “Sonny”. Patrick was born in Torrington, CT on August 1, 1935, the son of Patrick Cordani Sr., and Josephine (Scarfo) Cordani. He was a life long resident of Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School, in addition to serving in the Army until 1957. He also returned to school later in life to enhance his talents and competitive edge as a master brick and block layer.
Patrick finished his Masonry Apprenticeship on January 5, 1961; Pat worked for Cordani Building Company for over 50 years, and was an officer of the corporation. He was a master mason and bricklayer, known for the craftsmanship and quality that his heritage was known for. With an intensity, meticulousness and commitment to his craft, he continued working as an independent contractor in the area until 2016.
He was a member of the Elks, Sons of Italy, and Greenwoods Country Club, in addition to numerous other organizations. Pat loved to play golf, baseball, and was a coveted partner for 9-5 tournaments. His sense of humor, true love of life and sincerity were some of the few pieces of himself that he shared with the world. He was adored by all who knew him- the life of the party, a friend to all he met, and a wonderful, giving, man. For those who knew Pat he had a heart unsurpassed to none.
He is survived by his only child, and beloved daughter Nicole J. Cordani of Northfield, and his two grandchildren, Michaela and Nicolas Main- both of whom he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his siblings, Raymond Cordani, (Port St. Lucie, FL) Joseph Cordani, (Torrington), Anthony Cordani (predeceased), Gloria Madeux, (Torrington), Rachel Cordani, (Torrington), Albert Cordani (Torrington) and numerous nieces and nephews.
