Nicholas Galgano, 89, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Galgano was born August 4, 1924, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Charles and Lucy (Brancaccio) Galgano. He served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. Among the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge were the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal with one star. He was a Teacher, employed by the Torrington Board of Education until his retirement.
He is survived by two brothers, John Galgano and Charles Galgano, both of Torrington; one sister, Emma Toothill of Palmer, Alaska, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery with final military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
