Michaelina "Mickey" Jean (Gagliardi) Coretto

Born Michaelina “Mickey” Gagliardi, on December 14, 1926, Mickey passed away on April 30th, 2016 in Seminole, Florida.

Mickey was the daughter of Piacentino “Jimmy” and Mary (LaGanga) Gagliardi. A graduate of Torrington High School, she spent her entire life in Torrington, until the last 20 years when she, and her partner, Anthony “Tony” Lovallo, began to visit, then winter, in Seminole, Florida.

Married to James “Jimmy” Coretto in 1951, the couple raised 2 daughters: Donna Coretto Rankin, Seminole, Florida and Gail Coretto Goodson, Chester, NY. Jim passed away in 1984. Mickey was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony “Jiggs” Gagliardi.

In addition to her daughters, Mickey leaves behind four grandchildren: Patrick McLaughlin, David McLaughlin, Angel Coretto, and James Goodson, and two great-grandchildren: Kenzi McLaughlin and Scarlett Coretto, She also leaves behind her Sister –in-Law Elizabeth (Betty) Garofalo and Brother-in-law Charles (Charlie) Coretto. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.

Mickey was a long time communicant at St. Peter's Church where she had been active in the St Francis Cabrini Society.

During her working years, Mickey was best known for her time working at a popular downtown retailer, “JusTeens.”  Mickey was also a favorite Server at weekly meetings of the Rotary Club held at the Elks Club.  She also worked for the State of Connecticut.

Mickey, often referred to as “Sister", was a talented self-taught artist; creating beautiful cards and paintings. Her favorite pastimes were listening to music and dancing.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington.  Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning, May 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
