Michael A. Merati, 70, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Alderuccio) Merati for 39 years.
Mike was born October 26, 1944, in Torrington, CT, son of the late James and Eva (Frauenhofer) Merati. A local attorney, he was a partner in the law firm of Gallicchio, Merati and Griffin. He was a member of the Litchfield County Bar Association, Democratic Town Committee, Elk’s Lodge, and the Sons of Italy.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, he is survived by two sons, Michael Merati and his wife Virginia of Ridgefield, Marco Merati of Torrington; one daughter, Mackenzie Merati of Torrington; two brothers, James Merati and Anthony Merati, both of Torrington; two sisters, Catherine Panicci of Hanover, MA, Claire Zaragoza of Dover, DE, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Merati.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 31, 2014, at 12:00 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
