Michael Edward Farkas

Michael Edward Farkas, 91, of Harwinton, CT, passed away peacefully on June 5th surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born November 1, 1931, and was the son of the late Michael and Sophie Farkas.  He had served two years in the US Army. He was employed by the Torrington Company as a Quality Control Manager for 40 years and later retired in 1993.  He loved fishing, followed by a fish fry with all his friends and was an avid fan of UCONN men and women basketball teams as well as the NY Yankees.

He is survived by his wife Marie of 66 years, daughter Donna and son Richard and wife Lisa, sister Eleanor Orie, granddaughters Amber Scapin, Taylor Farkas, Katrina Brodski; grandsons Cody Farkas and fiancée Sydney and John Brodski; great grandsons Colton and Hunter Brodski; goddaughter Kathy Giglio and several nieces and nephews.  He will be deeply missed by his forever friends of over 60 years Cyn and Buzz Aeschliman and Cindy and Bob Hart.  He is predeceased by his son Michael and brothers Andy and John.

Funeral services will be held on June 15, 2023, leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church for a Mass at 11:00 a.m., followed by cremains buried at St. Peter Cemetery.  Calling hours are June 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Shriners.
