Mauro M. Dileo, 81, of Winsted, CT, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at Cherry Brook Healthcare surrounded by his family. He was the husband of JoAnne (Moreschi) Dileo.
Mauro was born April 29, 1936, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Michael and Mary (Colangelo) Dileo. Honorably discharged, he served his Country with the US Army. He assisted his brothers with cooking and many other facets of the business at Dileo’s Grove and Six D's Restaurant for over 20 years while employed by the Torrington Company as a foreman in the shipping department, and later by the State of CT Department of Corrections as a supervisor in the Food Service Department at a maximum security prison, until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the St. Peter Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife JoAnne, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dileo & Mary Jo Novak of Torrington; one daughter, Cheryl Dileo of Winsted; one awesome and lovely granddaughter, Kristina Dileo; three brothers, Joseph Dileo of New Hartford, William Dileo of Stratham, New Hampshire and Michael Dileo of Jupiter, Florida as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Patsy, Andrew, Anthony and Daniel Dileo, and one sister, Philomena Pergola.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery with full military honors accorded.
