Mary (Rakyta) Majewski

Mary (Rakyta) Majewski, 89, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the wife of the late John “Jack” Majewski.

Mary was born July 16, 1931, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Pasternak) Rakyta.  She was employed by Stanley Products in the cafeteria until her retirement.

Devoted to her religion, Mary was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Torrington and of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Liverpool, NY, where she was active in the choir and with the altar guild.

She is survived by two brothers, Michael Rakyta of Savannah, GA, Robert Rakyta of New Hartford; nieces and nephews Judy Schaller, Tom Rakyta, Karen Rakyta, Jeffrey Rakyta, Fred Rakyta, as well as several great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister Anna Rakyta, and brothers, John Rakyta and Andrew Rakyta.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home.
