Mark A. Cardello

Mark A. “Louie” Cardello, 44, of Harwinton, CT, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of Deneen (Copertino) Cardello, and the devoted father to Nicolas Cardello.

Mark was born February 9, 1971, in Torrington, CT, son of Joanne (Gallicchio) and Michael Cardello, Sr.  of Torrington.  He was currently employed by Hartford Distributors Inc., (HDI), and formerly was employed by Dwan & Company, Inc.  He was the former owner of Cardello’s Spirit Shoppe.

A student athlete who graduated from the Torrington High School Class of 1989, he was Captain of the high school football and baseball teams, and in 1988 was the honored recipient to be inducted into the prestigious 1929 Club for his accomplishments in THS football.  Mark enjoyed playing baseball and softball throughout his life, and for the past five years mentored his son’s teams and was very active in youth athletic programs.

In addition to his wife Deneen, his son Nicolas “Nico”, and his parents, Joanne and Mike, he is survived by one brother, Michael Cardello, Jr. and his wife Amy; four nephews, Anthony Cardello, Anthony Copertino, Gabriel and Dante Copertino; two nieces, Sydney Cardello and Samantha Marolda; his father-in-law, Richard “Dick” Copertino; brothers-in-law, Richard Copertino, Donald Copertino and his wife Silvia, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.  Mark was a man who had a smile and gave a hug to everyone, and he will be greatly missed by many.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 29, 2016, at 11:00, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, CT.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at church.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
