Marianne A. Barbieri, 78, of Torrington, CT passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Marianne was the wife of the late Salvatore J. Barbieri.
Born in Winsted Connecticut in 1942, Marianne was the daughter of the Late Joe and Carmela (DiBiasi) Amenta. Marianne was a member of the Veneta Society Women’s Auxiliary for many years, and she was also the Neighborhood Crime Watch Captain for the city of Torrington for over 30 years. Marianne loved to organize the annual National Night Out event with the Torrington Police Department and each captain of the participating neighborhoods. In November of 1995, she was awarded the Crime Watch Captain of the year for her outstanding achievement and dedication to the city of Torrington.
During the mid-to late 80’s and 1990’s Marianne managed the St. Francis School cafeteria program which she loved very much!
Marianne leaves behind so many great friends who loved her very much. The outpouring of love and support for the past 3 months have been unbelievable. A quote from the Wizard of Oz best describes Marianne. “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”

Five grandchildren, Lena, Ryan and Zachary of Elk Grove, CA and Resa and Anthony of Torrington, CT. One brother Paul Amenta of New Hartford, CT; two nephews and several cousins.
