Madeline (Marino) LaGanga, 85, of Litchfield, CT, peacefully passed away at the home of her daughter, Rose, on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Madeline was born June 30, 1935, in Winsted, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Scifo) Marino. She met the love of her life, the late Michael LaGanga while waitressing at her brother Concetto’s restaurant.
Madeline was passionate about cooking and made sure to add extra love in every meal she made for her family, friends, while employed at Workman Apartments or volunteering at Lourdes Shrine. She took great pride in the American Laundry that her and her husband owned and operated until retirement. They spent their leisure time camping and traveling. On Saturday mornings you could find her searching for treasures at local tag sales.
A true social advocate, Madeline was active in her community. Her involvement included being a proud member of the Italian American Women’s Club and the Anita Garibaldi Club where she served as President for many years. One of her proudest accomplishments was organizing the annual St. Joseph Feast Day Dinner.
Her biggest joy was her family. She is survived by two daughters, Veronica Brennan and her husband Tom of Riverton, CT and Rose LaGanga of Barkhamsted, CT; her son-in-law Steven Atwood of Oakville, CT; one brother, Anthony Marino of Hamden, CT; one sister, Ann Brochu of Winsted, CT; her grandchildren, James and Michelle Steck, Michael Brennan, Brittany Lascko and Madeline Atwood; three great grandchildren, Liam, Eli and Trinity Steck, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Joann Atwood, her brother, Concetto Marino and his wife Dorothy and her brother-in-law Gerald Brochu.
