Lucia (Garofalo) Calafiore

Lucia (Garofalo) Calafiore, 81, of Torrington, CT, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Litchfield Woods surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late Gaetano “Tommy” Calafiore.

Lucia was born May 11, 1933, in Floridia, Sicily, Italy, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppa (Bazzano) Calafiore.  A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, she adored her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a communicant of St. Peter Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Matarese and her husband Joseph of Torrington, CT; Mary Grace Peak and her husband Matthew of Manchester, CT; two brothers, Padre Emmanuel Garofalo of Montecatini, Terme, Italy, Sebastiano Garofalo of Floridia, Italy; two sisters, Salvatrice Bisucci of Melbourne, Australia, Concetta Sardo of Floridia, Italy; four grandchildren, Olivia and Joseph Matarese of Torrington, Mia and Luke Peak of Manchester; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
