Louis M. Paniati, 86, of Torrington died on Thursday December 9, 2021. He leaves his loving wife of 65 years Claudia (Thorpe) Paniati.
“Louie”, as he was fondly known by many, was born in Torrington; son of John and Josephine (Pent) Paniati. He lived in Cornwall for 45 years before retiring to Florida and Torrington.
Louie served eight years in the Navy Seabee Reserves. He was a licensed electrician working in construction out of IBEW locals 660 in Waterbury and 488 in Bridgeport for over 60 years. He was past president of IBEW 660, the Building Trades Council of Torrington, the Cornwall Civic Club, a member of the Cornwall Vol. Fire Department, and the first Chief of the Cornwall Rescue Squad.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, and golfing.
He leaves a daughter Vivian (Paniati) Irwin and her husband Michael Irwin of Barkhamsted, a son Clayton Paniati and his wife Kathy (Wagner) Paniati,of Burlington. Four grandchildren Christina (Irwin) Janssen and her husband Ryan, Catherine (Irwin) Pennell and her husband Joseph, Joshua Paniati, and Alyssa Paniati,, three great grandsons, one niece, and several nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Paniati and wife Arlene, Ronald Paniati and wife Mary, and nephew Ron Paniati, Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington CT. Burial will be private at St. Peter Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. At the family’s request in respecting Covid protocol, all relatives and friends attending funeral services are required to wear protective facemasks while inside the funeral home.
