Lorraine Gloria Seiser (Martin) 89, formerly of Charles St., Torrington, CT died on November 27, 2019, surrounded by her family, at Brandywine Assisted Living, Litchfield, CT, which had been her home for the past six years. Lorraine was the wife of the late Robert Seiser. Born in Caribou, ME on July 7, 1930, she was the daughter of Clara and Levi Martin.
She was employed by the State of CT, Department of Developmental Services, retired after 15 ½ years as a payroll officer in accounts payable and purchasing department. Lorraine was a member of the Torrington ST. Francis Women’s Club and Social Action Committee and served one year on the parish council. She was also on the Stillwater River Committee and was a member of the K of C bowling league. Lorraine enjoyed using her beautiful singing voice with the St. Francis Choir of Torrington, St. Thomas Choir of Goshen, Litchfield County Choral Union, Ecumenical Choir of St. Paul’s Church on Palm Sunday in Torrington, the Silver Bells and Beaux and the Brandywine Chorus. She also loved to dance, especially the Jitterbug. Lorraine and Robert spent the winters in Largo, FL from 2001-2005 and took part in plays at the club house entertaining 700 people in two evenings.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Stephen Seiser and his wife June of Colebrook, CT, Lynn Seiser and her partner, Andrew Thomas of Torrington, CT, Kathleen Panella and her husband, Bruce of Plantsville, CT.; five grandchildren, Sharon Rivera-Carro and her husband, Angel of University Place, WA, Kurt Seiser and his wife, Lindsay of Avon, CT, Leann Wade and her husband, Bill of Hamden, CT, Christopher Panella and Lauren Panella of Plantsville, CT; two great grandchildren, Marcus Carro of University Place, WA and Carson Seiser of Avon, CT; her sister in law, Patricia Fritch of Torrington, CT, one brother, Gilman Martin and his wife, Marilyn of Aldon, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Anita Morin of East Hartford, CT; and three brothers, Ansel Martin of Staten Island, NY, Winifred Martin of Caribou, ME and the Rev. Malcolm Martin of Brockton, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church (St.John Paul the Great Parish), 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, December 4, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
