Lisa (Brun) Cosgrove, 53, of Litchfield, CT, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 31 years to W. James “Jim” Cosgrove.
Lisa was born May 2, 1966, in Hartford, CT, daughter of Barbara (Sadler) Brun of Bantam, CT, and of the late Henry J. Brun. She was employed by the Town of New Milford, Board of Education as a 4th Grade Teacher for 14 years. She was a member of Ephraim Kirby Chapter #75 Order of the Eastern Star, a Mother Advisor to Hope Assembly #46 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a long standing member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Bantam, Choir member, and past Senior Warden. She was an avid reader, who started 3 book clubs, and who created one of the largest classroom libraries for her students. Her students were very near and dear to her and she would make a point to reach out to them, encouraging the good that she saw in each of them. Lisa also loved to cook, sew, and tend to both her flower and vegetable gardens.
In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by one son, Justin and daughter-in-law Sarah Beth Cosgrove of Norfolk, VA; two daughters, Kelsey and her husband Stephen Gilbert of Winsted, CT, Marissa Cosgrove of Litchfield, CT and her fiancé, Kyle Gonynor; one grandson, Lucas James Gilbert, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon B. Whitton.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 802 Bantam Road, Bantam, CT 06750. A Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of fellowship time at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Assembly #46 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, 87 Horace St., Torrington, CT 06790 or to Ephraim Kirby Chapter #75 Order of the Eastern Star, 45 Berry St., Torrington, CT 06790 or to Boy Scout Troop 29, 7 Reder Rd.
