Katherine (Hanrahan) Pollick, 77, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her immediate family Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of George Pollick for 55 years.
Katherine was born February 24, 1943, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Dean) Hanrahan. She retired from New England Miniature Ball as an Administrative Assistant.
Kathy was loving and proud of her family and heralded all of their achievements. She especially loved sharing family celebrations, whether it was the birth of a new family member, a good report card, or a milestone birthday party. One of her favorite activities was a weeklong summer getaway with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was alway by the side of people during illness, to lend a listening ear, have an easy laugh, or provide much needed personal care. She cared about all of God’s creatures and shared her care and compassion openly with them all. She gave her time freely to those in need, and was considered a great friend to many. Kathy was proud of her Irish heritage, and reveled in the story telling, yarn spinning and joke telling of her Irish clan. In summary, as quoted by her grandchildren, “We are so grateful to have such a thoughtful, kind, generous and loving human as our Grandmother”
In addition to her husband George, she is survived by son Cary Pollick and his partner Kim Tyler of Chester, CT; daughter Gayle Pollick and her husband Spencer Mahar of Wethersfield, CT; brother, Thomas Hanrahan of Orleans, MA; two sisters, Gail Nicosia of Winsted, CT, Patricia Duchene of Torrington, CT; four grandchildren, Evan, Mara and Connor Pollick, and Pacey Mahar; a former daughter-in-law, Michele Pollick, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald “Doc” Hanrahan.
Contributions may be directed to The Little Guild animal shelter in West Cornwall, CT or the Omar N. Pollick scholarship fund at 165 Kinney St. Torrington, CT, or charity of your choice.
