Julia C. (Crock) Jalbert

September 5, 1925 — November 9, 2014

Julia C. (Crock) Jalbert, 89, of Harwinton, CT, was called home Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Valerie Manor surrounded by the presence and love of her family after a courageous battle with dementia.

Julia was born September 5, 1925, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Pelletier) Crock.  She was employed by Bristol Babcock as an assembler and calibrator for 35 years.  She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

She enjoyed Knitting, quilting, reading, and doing puzzles. She loved vacationing with her son Dennis and his family on their yearly timeshare visits. She also looked forward to sewing for the Curechief foundation, making bandanas for cancer patients that have lost their hair. Most of all Julia loved her family. She loved taking care of every single grandchild and great grandchild. She loved them unconditionally.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Jalbert and his wife Tammie of Harwinton; one daughter, Elaine Jalbert-Trzaskos and her husband Paul of Venice, Florida; five grandchildren, Leon Jalbert, III and his wife May, Kim Sortino-Fentress and her husband Eric, Michael Jalbert and his wife Jennifer, Christopher Jalbert, Janine Jalbert; four great grandchildren, Emma and Claire Fentress, Owen and Olivia Jalbert, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one son, Leon Jalbert, Jr. and his wife Sandy, three brothers, and one sister.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valerie Manor, and Companions and Homemakers, especially her caregiver Gert, for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Julia and her family during her battle with dementia.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, with a funeral service to be held at the conclusion of calling hours at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Julia enjoyed attending church mass with her grandchildren Chris and Janine and always enjoyed the flowers and seasonal décor. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield St., P. O. Box 127, Harwinton, CT 06791 to be used for the beautification of the church.
