Julia A. (Giramonti) Audia, 82, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully Friday, October 3, 2014, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Michael G. Audia who preceded her in death on June 11, 2013.
Julia was born July 10, 1932, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Eugene and Carmella (Savanella) Giramonti. A Registered Nurse, she was employed by Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and various nursing facilities in Torrington until her retirement in 1983. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed attending tag sales and sewing. She loved to cook and bake, especially when teaching old family recipes to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, always eager to babysit her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Audia of Torrington, Christopher Audia of Joplin, Missouri; two daughters, Ann Marie Ritchie and her husband Caie of Bradenton, FL, Barbara Weingart of Torrington; one sister, Mary Lou Locche and her husband Jim of Torrington; four grandchildren, Stefanie White and her husband Nick Moreno, Patricia VanLaar and her husband Greg, Shannon Hilton, Joshua Hilton; three great grandchildren, Sonnie Rae Rand, Nicholas Moreno, Jr., Cole Moreno, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton, CT 06791. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
