Josephine (Avampato) DiMauro, 92, of Torrington peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Sebastian "Nonie" DiMauro for 70 years.

Daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Hamilton) Avampato, Josephine was born June 20, 1928, in Torrington, CT, where she lived her entire life. She had a passion for knitting and was a superior craftswoman, making clothing, gifts, and creations for years. She loved the ocean, technology, and her family.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Laura DiMauro of Bristol, and Richard and Holly DiMauro of Torrington; grandchildren Angela Sieller and her husband Jason of Burlington, David DiMauro and his wife Marissa of Torrington, Vanessa Pannuto and her husband David of Burlington, Jesse DiMauro and his wife Jennifer of Plainville; great grandchildren Ella and Jack Sieller, David and Josephine DiMauro, Evan and Grace Pannuto, and Riley DiMauro; as well as her sister, Mary Grinvalski of Torrington, and her niece and several nephews. In addition to her husband, Josephine is predeceased by her sister Mildred Yarocki, brothers James Avampato and John Avampato, and great grandson Dylan Pannuto.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Josephine's home aide and friend, Beth, for her exceptional care and devotion.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home.
