Joseph Percivalle, Sr., age 89, passed away on July 1, 2017 while under the care of Masonicare Hospice in Wallingford.

Born May 10, 1928 in Manhattan, NY, Joe came to Torrington in 1952 to marry his wife Marie Tedesco; he would spend the rest of his years there surrounded by his loving family. Joe worked for 30 years as a materials specialist for Haydens, Seth Thomas, and finally General Time in Thomaston before retiring.

A well-known, well-loved figure around Torrington, "Mr P", as he was known, made friends everywhere he went, especially at the Sky Top Lanes, where he was a fixture until its closing, and at the Torrington Towers where he resided for over 25 years.

Despite hardships, Joe retained his wide smile, hearty laugh and generous spirit throughout his life. A kinder, more gentle man you will never meet; the world needs more like him.

Joe is survived by his two sons, John of Shelton, and Joe, Jr. of Torrington, along with his "beautiful daughters-in-law" Denice and Sherry. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Justin (wife Alexis) of Weymouth, MA; Amy (husband Michael Brophy) and David (wife Helena) of Torrington; and Jeremy of Deerfield Beach, FL, as well as three cherished great grandchildren, Ford Walker and Ophelia Brophy, and Mason Percivalle, all of Torrington.

Joe was predeceased by his wife Marie (and their unborn daughter) who passed away in 1962, and by his father-in-law John Tedesco.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT. On Saturday, July 8, there will be a brief visitation at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. memorial service. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.

The family would also like to thank the staffs of both the Litchfield Woods nursing home in Torrington and Masonicare in Wallingford for their kind, compassionate care in Joe's final days.
