Joseph D'Onofrio, a kind and loving husband, passed away on November 17,2024, at Hartford Hospital. Born on April 21, 1956, in East Hartford, CT, Joe was a dedicated CNC Machinist, having spent many years contributing his skills at Inertia Dynamics / Altra Industrial Motion before retiring.
Joe was known for his generous spirit and unwavering loyalty as a friend. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and his ability to connect with others made a lasting impact in the lives he touched. His final act of kindness was a testament to his character, as he chose to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation, further exemplifying his compassionate nature.
Throughout his life, Joe held a passion for history and technology, which reflected his curiosity about the world around him. He was an avid fan of Johnny Cash and the New York Yankees, and he enjoyed the excitement of visiting casinos. One of his favorite pastimes was spending summers with his wife and pugs at their RV in New York.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (DeAcetis) D'Onofrio, who was his partner and confidant throughout their journey together, married for 29 years. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Armstrong and brother-in-law James of Manchester, CT; sister-in-law Debra Abeling; brother-in-law Brian DeAcetis, as well as several nieces and nephews and his furry companions.
Joe now joins his cherished family members who have predeceased him, including his father, Daniel D'Onofrio, and his mother, Josephine (Dicara) Sargent. His legacy of love and kindness will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known him.
Joe's family would like to express their gratitude to the Winsted Emergency Services and to the Cardiac / ICU at Hartford Hospital, especially to Dr. Brett Duncan as well as to many friends reaching out with love and support during this difficult time.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Cemetery, 236 East Pearl Rd., Torrington, CT 06790
