John E. McLaughlin, formerly of Torrington, CT and of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on January 28, 2019, on Cape Cod, MA at the age of 95.
Born and raised in Torrington, Jack always said he had a “full life”. He was a Staff Sargent in the US Army Airforce during World War II, flying 73 missions as an Engineer Gunner on B-25’s. The highlight of his military career was bailing out over Burma and surviving the jungle. Jack retired from Ingersoll Rand, Broad Street Plant, after 34 years. He held a Real Estate license and bought and sold many local homes. He served as President of the St. Peter Holy Name Society and enjoyed many years as an “Eagles” and “Elks” Club member. He retired to Florida in 1984 becoming an avid golfer and avoiding the cold winters.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Angelina. He leaves his four children, Jack, Brian, and Diane of Torrington, and Maureen Beriau of Yarmouth Port, MA, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Relatives and friends may call on February 12th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.
