John Mastrantuone, 95, of Torrington, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2015, at his home with his loving daughter at his side. Born in Waterbury on September 9, 1920, he was the son of Nunzio and Amelia (Fusco) Mastrantuone. He was predeceased by his spouse, Mary (Silano) Mastrantuone.
An Army veteran of World War II, John was employed as a master plumber in various plumbing businesses. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed singing with the Norwestones and the Amici Italiani. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the UCONN girls’ basketball team.
John is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Mastrantuone) Magistrali; his grandsons, John Kunkiewicz and his wife, Jill, and Joseph Magistrali; his much-loved greatgrandson, Aiden Kunkiewicz; his brothers, Robert and wife Monique Mastrantuone of Waterbury and Anthony Mastrantuone of Southbury; his sister, Jean Murray of Watertown and many loving and grateful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Gilda Santoro and Mary Incero.
Family and friends are asked to gather at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
