John B. Galgano, 96, of Torrington, CT, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Wolcott Hall.  He was the beloved husband of Jean (Madeux) Galgano for 68 years.

John was born March 4, 1919, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Charles and Lucy (Branccato) Galgano.  He served his country with the US Navy during World War II, with the Seabees.  Among the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge in April of 1948 were the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theatre medal. He was employed by Anaconda American Brass as a Carpenter until his retirement.   In addition to woodworking, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with his family and he was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jean, he is survived by one son, Michael Galgano of Torrington; one brother, Charles Galgano of Torrington; one sister, Emma Galgano of Alaska; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son, Peter B. Galgano, and one brother, Nicholas Galgano.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis New Cemetery, 863 South Main St., Torrington, CT 06790.  Full military final honors will be accorded.  There are no calling hours.
