John Ferguson

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of John F. Ferguson on March 27, 2025, at age 58. John was born in Geneva, NY to John and Judith Ferguson. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane, daughter Lauren, mother Judith Ferguson, sister Cynthia Emanuel, husband Michael, their son Tanyon, man’s best friend Sophie, along with extended family members, friends and colleagues. He is predeceased by his father, John Ferguson.

John was a graduate of James Madison University and had a decades-long successful career in retail. John enjoyed the simple things in life such as yoga, reading, long walks with the dog, the Jersey Shore, and spending time with family. John fought a courageous battle against cancer and in doing so, taught us about grace, bravery, and the importance of living life. John’s warmth, humor, and kindness will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, with the cortege leaving from Cook Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. to St. Maron Church, 613 Main St., Torrington for The Divine Liturgy of Resurrection at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UConn Foundation, Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield, or the American Cancer Society.
