Joan (Butler) Thulin Oris

Joan Thulin Oris, 86, of Torrington, CT, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Litchfield Woods.  She was the wife of John Oris for 33 years.

Joan was born April 25, 1932, in Waterbury, CT, daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn (Parker) Butler.  She was employed by Summit Corporation, as a Supervisor for their Inspection Department until her retirement. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as cooking and swimming.

In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her five children, Patricia Holloran of Bristol, CT, Mark Thulin of Bristol, CT, John Thulin of Winsted, CT, Kristin Van Wright of Torrington, CT, Timothy Thulin of Watertown, CT; two step children, Daniel Oris of Thomaston, CT, Steven Oris of Seymour, CT; two sisters, Joyce Lafferty of Winsted, CT, Gail Seamans of Southington, CT; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, and the father of her children, Herbert Thulin, who was a proud WWII veteran.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home Chapel, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
