Mrs. Jo-Ann Barbara Jayne, age 84, of Harwinton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Jayne was born July 26, 1939, in Bridgeport, CT., the daughter of the late Carl and Mary (Ross) Siena. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Jonathan P. Jayne.
Jo-Ann spent most of her career as an administrative assistant in the Newtown, CT public school system and at Rumsey Hall School, Washington, CT. Formerly of Newtown and Bethlehem, Jo-Ann was a former member of the commission for the Harwinton Senior Center and was a Keystone Auxiliary member of the Boys and Girls Club of Bristol. In retirement, Jo-Ann loved to knit and crochet and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Knitting ministry. Jo-Ann was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Harwinton. She loved cooking, gardening, and traveling, especially to the beach, and was a devoted Huskies Men’s Basketball fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by a daughter, Doreen Jayne Stickney, and her husband Stan of Harwinton; a son, Jonathan Jayne, and his husband, Roy Yonkers of Naples, Florida; a granddaughter, Siena Cianciolo and her husband, Nick of Colorado.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish, (Immaculate Heart of Mary Church) Harwinton. Burial will take place in the Spring in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, on Monday, January 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jo-Ann’s memory to Imagine Nation, a Museum Early Learning Center, Bristol, or to a charity of your choice.
