Jeannette M. Asselin

August 3, 1940 — May 20, 2024

Torrington, Connecticut

Jeannette M. Asselin, a beloved member of the Torrington community, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the age of 83, surrounded by her family at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

Born on August 3, 1940, in Winsted, CT, Jeannette was the daughter of the late Emile and Aldea (Bernard) Asselin. She received her education at St. Anthony School and graduated from Gilbert High School as member of the Class of 1958. Jeannette's career led her to J. C. Burwell Lumber Company where she honed her sales skills before venturing into a successful hardware business with Jack Hoffman in New Hartford. Unfortunately, Jack became ill and the store was closed.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Jeannette's caring nature shone through in her devotion to her family. At the age of 60, she lovingly cared for her mother until her passing in 2006. In her leisure time, Jeannette found joy in playing the guitar and sharing music with others as part of a group that performed at local nursing homes.

Jeannette was a member of the Harwinton Senior Center and St. John Paul the Great Parish. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and she will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jeannette is survived by her brothers Lionel Asselin (Katherine) and Leo Paul Asselin; sister-in-law Barbara Asselin; brother-in-law Thomas Fragale; along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by two brothers Aime Asselin,  (Roseanne Asselin), Maurice Asselin, sister Jacqueline Mottai (Reno Mottai), and sister Claudette Fragale.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, with special thanks to her brother Leo Paul and neighbors Jim and John for their unwavering support during Jeannette's time of need.

Private funeral services have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home. Those wishing to offer condolences may do so by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com.
